First Year 2022/23 Manifestos

Ollie Crickmay and Lottie Hatherell

Why do you think you’ll make good first year reps?

We’re here for a good time, not a long time. We will make refreshers mental. Our 3 main values are:
1. Beer
2. Banter
3. And a bloody good time
We want to make sure everyone has an epic first year by providing a range of activities suited to everyone.
Although Ollie is a ginger he still has a soul. He also has duel residents at Lewes and Paddocks so can relate to you all on a personal level unless you are slumming it in Norwich house- in that case- L. #presatlewes #sleepatpaddocks

How would you contribute to the first years as their reps?

1. Inclusivity
2. Cheap drinks
3. Cheap club entry
4. Free food (specifically pizza)
5. A great time
6. Best friend status with Leo Bartlett
7. 3 different strains of salmonella if you eat in flat 32 kitchen

What are your previous experiences in leadership roles?

Ollie is the current deputy flat leader of flat 32. He was also house captain of Troy in secondary school.
Lottie is president of the very established womens rugby club. She was also the editor of her school magazine in primary school.
We believe this experience provides a wealth of knowledge required as first year reps.

Any other information you would like us to know?

We both successfully passed our chlamydia and gonorrhoea tests with flying colours.

Why do you think you’ll make good first year reps?

With the combination of our friendliness, charisma and overall vibes we believe that we would be a good fit to the medsoc committee as first year reps. We are sociable and approachable and hence we believe that as first year reps we can provide useful insights from the year to the committee in future events. As a diverse group we can understand concerns from all kinds of events including clubbing and drinking socials and non-drinking cultural socials, hence we can partake in organisation too.

How would you contribute to the first years as their reps?

The useful insights we can interpret from our cohort would allow us to organise speaking points and implement changes where applicable. We hope to implement new ideas in terms of non-drinking socials (for the population of non-drinkers in 1st year) and socials that are not just clubbing events in order to integrate more of year 1 into the medsoc socials. Plus, we hope to support the older years in organising such events and integrate our own ideas to give medsoc events a more novel approach.

What are your previous experiences in leadership roles?

Aryan was the team manager for a National Team in a formula 1 based
competition called F1 in Schools. Additionally, he was the Founder of a welsh based healthcare society made to assist aspiring medics get interested in medicine and get into med school. Keira was a prefect and a house captain in sixth form. Furthermore, she worked in a nursery as a teaching assistant so she is good at chaperoning people, even taking people to A&E whilst at uni, so is well equipped to take care of the drunk.

Any other information you would like us to know?

We are very much party people, difficult for us to say no to a night out. Aryan is part of the famous (alcoholic) Flat 30C which Keira basically lives in. Yet, we feel more could be done for those who aren’t because there are many. We hope to bring their concerns on board for the future. Vibez 😀

Why do you think you’ll make good first year reps?

We are full of enthusiasm for all things Medsoc (just check out our amazing costumes as evidence). Don’t mind making a fool of ourselves for the greater good e.g charity Willing to speak out for what we believe in and be a voice for people who feel too uncomfortable to say something. Immaculate vibes. Can bake cakes for meetings. Brings fun and happiness to any environment. Great organisational skills. Caring individuals. Easygoing and approachable. Relatable, transparent and (too) honest

How would you contribute to the first years as their reps?

Amazing refreshers and threefreshers. We will put our heart and soul into these events. Justice for squash it is a real sport. We want to promote work play balance- we think having fun is just as important as med school and want to create fun events to destress. Down with toxic med school culture. We are open ears and want to make sure everyone feels comfortable voicing their opinions. Emotional support hype women.
