Treasurers - James Culf and Tharsan Thiruchelvam

Tharsan, previous IT rep turned treasurer – a trustworthy, friendly BNOC within BSMS. He is often seen tearing up the hockey pitch, or chilling in Brighton’s A&E.

James, previous hockey committee member turned treasurer – A lecture-attendee and gym goer. Often seen tearing up the hockey pitch alongside Tharsan, or getting up far too early for very little reason.

This year we are all about honesty, transparency and fairness within the treasurer role. If you have any questions or would like to know how we run things, feel free to let us know and we’ll do our best to provide the best answer to you 🙂

Social Secs - Adam Khan and Simona Pinto

We’re Adam and Simona, your Social Secs- responsible for curating a calendar of events that balances tradition with a healthy disregard for monotony. Our firm belief is that our socials are best approached with the same flair and dedication you’d give to your end of year KTs. From the elegance of the Winter Ball to pub crawls and Halloween celebrations, our aim is to allow students to step away from the demands of medical school and truly experience what Brighton has to offer. Whether you find us herding people to the dance floor, shotting 5 for 5s, or ensuring costumes meet an unspoken (but very real) standard, rest assured- we’re here to make sure your time at BSMS is memorable for all the right reasons.

Fresher's Reps - Indya Lane, Daniel Thomas & Ella Verma

Meet this year’s Freshers Reps – Indya, Ella, and Dan – ready to make Freshers Week 2025 unforgettable!

Indya, while she claims she’s from the Philippines, went to boarding school in Sussex. She plays rugby for Sussex Uni, and this year, she learned the hard way that you should ALWAYS eat before a pub crawl.

Ella is the current vice captain for BSMS Women’s Football. She agrees to be welfare for almost every society because she “doesn’t have to do any work”. She also had so much fun on her Freshers Week that she blacked out on medic family night.

Dan, AKA ‘DT’ (which stands for distinction), plays every sport BSMS and Brighton Uni have to offer. Fun fact: he is also the only brown man from Devon. He doesn’t drink, but is still a diva on the dance floor. Drop us a message if you have any questions!

International Rep - Darya Grawe

Hi guys! I’m Darya and I’m the international student rep this year 🙂 I‘m just here to make your start and time in uni a bit easier for those of you coming from abroad and bring some of us international students together. I moved to Brighton from Germany when I was 17 and found the first few weeks particularly tough. It was always nice to have a few other people around me that were navigating similar challenges, so I want you guys to have the same support!! Feel free to ask any questions you might have about how it is as an international student and things that have helped feel more at home. Even when you’re settled in, it’s always fun to meet up with other international students, which is why I’ll be organizing some events throughout the year, starting in freshers week!!

Grad and Mature Rep - Julia Reinstein

Dearest darlingest grads and mature students, I’m your Grad & Mature Student Rep for 2025/26! I studied Medical Neuroscience at Sussex before starting BSMS, and I’ve loved connecting with people of all ages and stages here. Having someone you can relate to is so valuable during such an intense course, so hopefully I can be a port of call for anything you might need! We’re talking ankis, silly mnemonics for valve disorders, local recommendations, or even just a chat. When I’m not in the MTB office, you’ll find me in Moulsecoomb library, Moksha café, or at a Medic Revue rehearsal (all will be revealed soon…). Can’t wait to meet you all!
