
Dance Society
Why run laps when you can run the show? 💃 Dance Society is where rhythm meets chaos in the best way — with workshops, iconic socials (Just Dance and Drink being a popular one), events, and amazing choreography. We stole the spotlight at the Multicultural Ball, and now we’re gearing up for a showcase this term that’ll leave jaws on the dance floor. No need for any experience, just bring yourself, a water bottle, and all the chaotic fun energy you’ve got. Looking forward to seeing you all!!

BSMS Surgical Society

GPSoc
BSMS GPSoc is for students interested in General Practice and Primary Care. Everyone is welcome, regardless of whether or not you plan to specialise as a GP. We will continue to host events, including talks from doctors with special interests such as Women’s Health and Dermatology. GPSoc will also continue to liaise with the Royal College of General Practitioners to share upcoming opportunities, career insights, and explore the potential of being a GP.

BSMS Basketball Society
The BSMS Basketball Society is an inclusive, mixed-play society open to all abilities. We run regular sessions and encourage a friendly, team-oriented atmosphere. Our aim is to create a space for students to stay active, meet new people, and enjoy basketball alongside their studies. With enough engagement, we also hope to form dedicated Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams to represent BSMS in matches and competitions. Whether you’re experienced or completely new to the sport, everyone is welcome to get involved.

Medic Revue
We are the BSMS medic revue, a musical comedy show, written, produced, directed and performed by our very own medical students! Come and be a part of the cast, band or crew of the best show in town 🙂

Medic Band
Medic Band invites anyone and everyone who can or wishes to play an instrument or sing their hearts out. No matter what level you are. We host a number of karaoke events for a break from the non-stop grind of medschool and will soon be hosting performances of anyone wanting and willing to perform. Hope to see you there.

SEASoc
Representing East Asian and South East Asian Culture at BSMS we host an array of different events from teaching events to help you with your studies to matcha cafes and hotpot meet-ups to help you navigate the rich Asian culture in Brighton. Look forward to our biggest event Lunar New Year ! Games, Prizes, Plenty of Food and a night to celebrate with you friends away from home.

Research Society
The BSMS Research Society provides students with opportunities to explore, engage with, and contribute to medical research from the earliest stages of their training. We aim to inspire curiosity and foster academic development by hosting talks from clinicians and researchers and by providing opportunities. Our society connects members with networks that support presentations, publications, and intercalated degrees. Whether you are new to research or already involved, we offer a welcoming space to develop your interests and gain the skills essential for future medical practice.

BSMS Islamic Society
The Islamic Society (ISOC) is a vibrant student community that brings Muslims together on campus. It provides a space for prayer, learning, and support, while also hosting social, educational, and charitable events. The society works to strengthen faith, build unity, and promote a positive understanding of Islam within the wider university. Through its activities, ISoc aims to create a welcoming environment where students can grow spiritually, make lasting friendships, and feel a strong sense of belonging.

BMA soc
This society is designed to provide a space for students passionate about professional issues, internal medical politics, and fostering social change within BSMS. You’ll also have the chance to expand these discussions across the wider student community. As reps, we also are not expected to know everything about the world of medical politics, but hopefully through this society, we can impose our experience onto future generations of medical students.

Green Medicine
BSMS Green Medicine Society is working towards a sustainable future. Our society creates a space for students passionate about the environment, as well as sharing education on sustainability in medical practice and wider student life.

BSMS Women in Surgery Society
The BSMS Women in Surgery (WinS) Society is all about inspiring and supporting medical students who are interested in surgery. We know surgery can feel like a male dominated field, so our aim is to break down barriers, celebrate women in the profession, and create a welcoming space for everyone. We run exciting workshops, talks, and conferences with incredible surgeons, giving you the chance to learn new skills, gain insight into surgical careers, and find mentors. Whether you see yourself in surgery or just want to explore, we’d love for you to join our community and get involved!

Psychiatry Society
We are a society for students interested in psychiatry to connect with each other, explore the career and support each other academically. We ran a successful society in the past, as we have organised a conference, delivered clinical and pre-clinical teaching events, along with having movie nights and collaborated with other societies. Homeless Medicine Society
The BSMS Homeless Medicine Society (Aka BSMS Homed) provides opportunities to help out the homeless in our communities. Through supporting charities such as Sussex Homeless Support (Come on down to Old Steine every Saturday at 12:15), hosting various talks & fundraising opportunities we aim to both help out those who are vulnerable in our communities and help educate medical students regarding this.

Renal Society

At ObsGynaeSoc, we are committed to supporting you in your degree! Our society connects students with career insights, practical experience, and a supportive community of peers. Oncology, Haematology and Palliative Care
The OHP Society is dedicated to supporting medical students with a keen interest in Oncology, Haematology, and Palliative Care. We provide a range of academic and extracurricular opportunities including themed quizzes, essay advice sessions, and tailored OSCE preparation. Our joint OSCE events with ImmunoSoc are especially popular, offering high-yield, collaborative learning that has proven immensely helpful for students preparing for clinical exams. Immunology and Infectious Diseases Society
ImmunoSoc is a vibrant and student-focused society that supports learning and interest in Immunology and Infectious Diseases. The BSMS Tamil Society is a welcoming community for those of Tamil heritage and anyone interested in exploring its rich culture and traditions. Throughout the year, we host a range of events such as a meet and greet, games nights, food socials, and collabs with other societies. Anatomy Society
Our aim is to make anatomy: accessible by providing FREE resources – weekly review notes, termly kahoots and end of year quizzes. understandable by sharing tips for tricky concepts by older years who’ve mastered it. And colouring pages we’ve designed as a great way of stress-relieving plus you’re simultaneously learning! providing an encouraging community to share and learn anatomy collaboratively during our annual museum trip with all year groups, and potentially an anatomy conference. NeuroSoc
Neurosoc is a society for people interested in neurology as a career and for those with a more general interest in the field. We have had increasingly successful years since NeuroSoc’s founding. We host talks, socials and revision sessions. We hope to continue to expand and adapt our events this year to provide as many neurology related opportunities as we can!

Anaesthetics Society
Our aim is to give students a real taste of what anaesthetics has to offer, and show just how varied and rewarding the specialty can be! Whether you’re curious about airway management, pain medicine, or how anaesthetists play a vital role across surgery and intensive care, you’re in the right place. We run teaching sessions, hands-on sessions, and a careers talk to help you explore life as an anaesthetist. MedArt
MedArt is a place for the BSMS community to use creativity and crafts for personal expression as well as a space to relax from the stresses of daily life. We have hosted many events in the past including colouring, tote-bag making and pottery events to name a few! We also collaborate with other societies to help support their events with decoration and designs. AMECS- association for medical education and clinical skills
AMECS is the official Medical Education Society at BSMS. We provide engaging and supportive teaching sessions, revision workshops, and OSCE practice to help students build confidence and strengthen clinical skills. Our aim is to enhance the learning experience, complement the medical curriculum, and prepare students for both exams and future clinical practice.

Refugee Support society
Feeling comfortable accessing healthcare is a right, not a privilege. Our society raises awareness of the struggles and challenges faced by refugees and asylum seekers, challenges often taken for granted. By educating future doctors, we aim to minimise these barriers and promote equity in healthcare. We also organise events and activities to fundraise for organisations supporting refugees.

Golden Time
Golden Time was put together by a group of friends who felt there was something missing in medical school. We created golden time to be a fun space for medical students to remember they are more than just future doctors. We are individuals outside of medicine and golden time is a society that promotes having fun, de-stressing and building community. We want to promote better work life balance and mental health during our time at BSMS with events for you to switch off your brain and switch on your game. BSMS Ophthalmology Society
OphthalSoc is a hub for students to explore Ophthalmology by attending, organising and delivering insightful careers talks, teaching sessions and mock assessments. We hold many such events across the academic year. We can also offer informal portfolio advice and our network can help provide opportunities and certification for engaging in portfolio building activities or anything else ophthalmology-related. BSMS dermatology society
BSMS dermsoc is dedicated to fostering interest, knowledge, and skills in dermatology. We provide opportunities for medical students to engage with this dynamic specialty through a variety of teaching events and learning opportunities. Our society works closely with dermatology professionals to offer valuable career insights, networking opportunities, and exposure to research. We also support awareness of skin health within the community and participate in the nationwide battle of the dermsocs, where we compete with other dermsocs to raise the most money for the British Skin foundation. Previously we have won the award for most creative dermsoc, highlighting our outside the box approach to fundraising. As president I encourage all to get involved as there is truly something for everyone :))

Wild Swimming Society
Love the sea? So do we! The Wild Swimming Society brings students together for monthly dips in Brighton’s waves alongside sea themed socials. Whether you’re looking to de-stress from studies, embrace the chill for a refreshing boost, are a seasoned swimmer, or just fancy a splash, it’s the perfect way to make the most of studying by the coast while meeting new friends along the way.

Cardiology Society
CardioSoc is a student society dedicated to exploring the science and practice of cardiovascular medicine. We provide opportunities to learn and develop through a range of academic and clinical events, including ECG workshops, heart sounds teaching, revision sessions, and mock OSCEs. Our aim is to create an inclusive and supportive community where students can deepen their knowledge, gain confidence in practical skills, and connect with peers who share an interest in cardiology and cardiovascular science.

CMF is more than a university society but is a community led by a committee with the desire to serve Jesus and those around them. Cardiothoracic Surgical Society (BSMS CTSS)
The BSMS Cardiothoracic Surgical Society (BSMS CTSS) provides students with an environment to learn about and further explore the exciting field of cardiothoracic surgery. BSMS Orthopaedics surgery is a student led society dedicated to Trauma and Orthopaedic surgery. We focus on encouraging an interest in orthopaedics from the start of medical school, supporting those with an interest in pursuing a career in orthopaedics with careers advice from surgeons, and providing revision sessions and aids to those taking exams. Events we run include regional conferences, interesting talks from surgeons, practical exam teaching and revision, and hands-on workshops.

The BSMS Urology Society aims to inspire and educate students about the dynamic field of urology. As urology is only briefly covered in the curriculum, we provide opportunities to explore the specialty further through talks, workshops, career events, and research. SfGH @ BSMS provides a platform for education, discussion and campaigning on a range of global issues. Wilderness and Expedition Medicine Society
Our society is for students interested in expedition, wilderness, altitude, dive, aviation, space, pre-hospital and humanitarian medicine. We are hoping to run events such as teaching sessions and talks on performing medicine out in the wild with limited resources. We also plan to have lots of outdoor exposure through hikes, sea swims and camping trips. There’ll be more chill social events such as film screenings and beach bbq’s, so there will be something for everyone! Our aim is to provide a safe space for all students to enjoy the outdoors and learn more about this unique branch of medicine.
